Do I have to press Apply?
Yes — Apply is what keeps what you have done to the picture. Closing the Photo Editor with the cross instead leaves it as it was. If a crop or a filter has not stuck, reopen the picture, redo it and press Apply.
This applies to cover pictures. The photographs inside your book are placed and sized automatically and cannot be edited, cropped or filtered individually — to change what appears there, use Edit content.
