I clicked Empty cache and my book got longer
That is normal. Empty cache fetches your content again from scratch, and a fresh fetch can pick up posts the previous one did not have, so the page count goes up and the price follows it. Nothing has gone wrong. If the book is now longer than you want, bring it back the usual ways: narrow the date range, choose a smaller Picture Size, or untick what you do not need in Edit content.
